After a sharp increase in 2021 (+76.2%), in 2022 Portuguese emigration to the Netherlands grew again (+33.1%), reaching the highest value of entries in the series under analysis. With this increase, emigration to the Netherlands exceeds the emigration registered in Luxembourg (3,633 entries in 2022), a traditional destination for Portuguese emigration. Portuguese emigration to the Netherlands had a minimum value in 2005, with 830 entries, and a very strong growth between that year and 2008. A slight decrease between 2013 and 2015 was replaced by continuous growth in the following years, with the maximum value of the series to be recorded in 2022, with 4,533 entries.
