Despite the restrictions on movement imposed by the pandemic during the last two years, the number of Portuguese who entered Danish territory reached a new high for this century, for the second year in a row. From 2019 to 2020 there was an increase of 13.6% and from 2020 to 2021 the growth was 66.2%. Despite this evolution, Portuguese emigration to Denmark continues to represent a very small fraction of both immigration to this country (2.2%) and total Portuguese emigration (around 1%).
