Portuguese inflow to Sweden decreases for the second year in a row
Inês Vidigal
In 2019, 321 Portuguese entered Sweden, according to Statistics Sweden. That Swedish agency accounted for a total of 82,518 foreign entries in Sweden, with the Portuguese accounting for 0.4% of that total. +

Continuing the trend that started in 2019 the number of Portuguese entries in Sweden decreased again in 2020 (-6.1% in 2019 and -20% in 2020), there is the same propensity in the number of total entries of foreigners but at a higher rate (-12.7% in 2019 and -28.7% in 2020). In 2018 the number of Portuguese emigrants entering Sweden had reached the highest value of this century (426 entries), very different from the 69 entries recorded in 2000 (minimum value of the series under review). However, Portuguese emigration to Sweden still represents a very small fraction of both immigration in Sweden (0.4%) and total Portuguese emigration (less than 1%).
