From 2007 to 2009 there was a small increase in the number of entries, followed by a slight decrease in 2010. From 2011 to 2013, there was an exponential increase in the number of entries, with the maximum value of the series being analysed in 2013, with 11,401 Portuguese entering Germany. Over the last two years, 2014 and 2015, there has been a steady decline. Today, Germany is the fourth country where most Portuguese emigrate.
