Emigration to Italy reaches an all-time high in 2022
Inês Vidigal
According to Eurostat data, 670 Portuguese entered Italy in 2022. That European agency accounted for a total of 410,985 entries by foreigners into Italy, with the Portuguese accounting for only 0.2% of that total. +

After the recovery registered in 2021, in 2022 Portuguese emigration to Italian territory increased again (+24.3%), registering the highest value of the series under study. Over the time series under analysis (2000-2022), the number of Portuguese entries in Italy had a minimum value in 2002 (297 entries) and a maximum value in 2022 (670 entries). However, Portuguese emigration to Italy still represents a very small fraction of both immigration in this country (0.2%) and total Portuguese emigration (less than 1%).
