Portuguese emigration to Austria increases for the second consecutive year
Inês Vidigal
In 2022, 797 Portuguese entered Austria, according to Statistics Austria. That Austrian body accounted for a total of 246,265 entries of foreigners into the country, with the Portuguese representing 0.3% of immigration in that year. +

After the recovery recorded in 2021, in 2022, Portuguese emigration to Austrian territory increases again, registering the second highest value of the series under analysis. Over the time series under analysis (2002-2022), the number of Portuguese entering Austria had a minimum value in 2004 (266 entries) and a maximum value in 2013 (878 entries). However, Portuguese emigration to Austria continues to represent a very small fraction of both immigration to this country (0.3%) and total Portuguese emigration (less than 1%).
