Portuguese arrivals in France in 2021 return to pre-pandemic levels
Inês Vidigal
There were 7,663 Portuguese people who entered France in 2021, according to Eurostat data. This European institution counted a total of 336,398 entries of foreigners in France, with the Portuguese representing 2.3% of this total. +

After four successive years of decrease in the number of Portuguese arrivals in France, in 2021 the decline is interrupted, with the entry of 7,663 Portuguese, which corresponded to an increase of 27.8% compared to 2020. It should be noted that the growth of the Portuguese is higher than the increase of the total number of arrivals in the country (18.8%), and therefore the weight of the Portuguese in the total number of arrivals has increased in 2021. Portuguese emigration to France recorded a maximum of 19,658 entries into French territory in 2012 and a minimum of 5,998 entries in 2020. In seven years, the weight of Portuguese entries in France went from 5.6% in 2013 to 2.1% in 2020.
