Portuguese inflow to Norway increases for the second consecutive year
Inês Vidigal
According to Statistics Norway data, in 2022 784 Portuguese entered the country. That statistical institute counted a total of 83,282 entries of foreigners in Norwegian territory, with the Portuguese representing 0.9% of this total. +

The growth trend seen in 2021 continues in 2022, with the number of Portuguese arrivals in Norway increasing again (+36.1%). The value recorded in 2022 is the second highest in the series under review, after the peak recorded in 2013 (815 entries). The lowest value of the time series under analysis (2001-2022) was recorded in 2003, when only 55 Portuguese citizens entered Norwegian territory. Portuguese emigration to Norway is a recent phenomenon and despite the increase in 2022, the entry of Portuguese in Norway still represents a very small fraction of immigration in this country (0.9%).
