Portuguese emigration to Denmark reaches its peak in 2020
Inês Vidigal
According to data from Denmark Statistik, 968 Portuguese people entered Denmark in 2020. This Danish institution counted a total of 67,562 entries of foreigners in the country, with the Portuguese representing 1.4% of that total. +

Despite the restrictions on movement imposed by the pandemic during the year 2020, the number of Portuguese who entered Danish territory reached the highest value recorded this century. From 2019 to 2020 there was an increase of 13.6%, while the number of total foreign arrivals in that country fell for the fifth consecutive year (-16.3%). However, Portuguese emigration to Denmark continues to represent a very small fraction of both immigration to this country (1.4%) and total Portuguese emigration (around 1%).
