Inês Vidigal
In 2019, 940 Portuguese entered the United States of America (USA), according to data from the US Department of Homeland Security. In 2019, the US Department of Homeland Security counted more than one million foreign entries in the US (1,031,765), with the Portuguese accounting for 0.1% of that value. +

The downward trend since 2017 was halted in 2019, with the number of Portuguese entries to the US rising again (+5.7%), although the total number of foreign entries continues to decrease (-5.9%). Over the time series under review (2000-2019), the number of Portuguese inflows into the US had a minimum value in 2010 (755 entries) and a maximum value in 2001 (1,609 entries). In relative terms, Portuguese emigration to the US still represents a very small fraction of immigration in this country (0.1%).
