In 2018, Portuguese emigration to Italy grew by 4.1%, which contrasts with the downward trend in the number of foreigners entering Italian territory that year. After a sharp increase in the number of Portuguese inflows into Italian territory in 2016, of +25.1%, in 2017 and 2018 a deceleration can be observed, leaving growth at a lower level. Over the time series under analysis (2000-2018), the number of Portuguese entries in Italy had a minimum value in 2002 (297 entries) and a maximum value in 2007 (594 entries). However, Portuguese emigration to Italy still represents a very small fraction of both immigration in this country (0.1%) and total Portuguese emigration (less than 1%).
