Fewer Portuguese entering Belgium for the fourth consecutive year
Inês Vidigal
According to OECD data, 2,691 Portuguese entered Belgium in 2017. That international organisation accounted for a total of 109,515 entries of foreigners into Belgian territory, with the Portuguese accounting for 2.5% of that total. +

This was the fourth consecutive year in which emigration to Belgium decreased, after reaching a peak in 2013: 4,332 Portuguese entries. Since 2007, the number of Portuguese arriving on Belgian territory was not so low. The recessive trend translated into a relative loss of importance of Portuguese immigration: while in 2013 the Portuguese accounted for 4% of migrant arrivals in Belgium, in 2017 they represented only 2.5%.
