Portuguese inflow into Sweden increased in 2017 for the eighth consecutive year
Carlota Moura Veiga
There were 390 Portuguese who entered Sweden in 2017, according to Statistics Sweden. That Swedish agency accounted for a total of 144,489 entries of foreigners in Sweden, with the Portuguese representing 0.3% of that total. +

For the eighth consecutive year the number of Portuguese entries in Sweden increased. In 2017, the share of Portuguese immigration in total immigration in that country also increased, from 0.2% to 0.3% of total inflow. This increase was the result, on the one hand, of the growth of the number of Portuguese entries in Sweden (+ 2.6%), which reached the highest value since 2000, and, on the other hand, the decrease in the total value of foreign inflow into that country (-11.4%). However, Portuguese emigration to Sweden continues to represent a very small fraction of both immigration in this country and total Portuguese emigration.
