Small decrease in Portuguese inflows to Andorra in 2023
Inês Vidigal
According to data from the Andorra Department of Statistics, 199 Portuguese entered Andorra in 2023. This agency accounted for a total of 6,045 foreigners entering the country, with the Portuguese accounting for 3.3% of immigration in that year. +

After an increase in Portuguese emigration to Andorra in 2022, there was a slight decrease in 2023 (-3.9 per cent). After a peak in 2005, emigration to this country fell sharply between that year and 2014, remaining stable at comparatively low values since then. In 2008, there was the largest drop (-54%), reflecting the abrupt and deep nature of the property crisis in Spain. In recent years, the number of Portuguese arrivals in Andorra had been increasing very slightly. The recessionary trend in recent years has resulted in a relative loss of importance of Portuguese immigration: if in 2007 the Portuguese represented 34.9% of migrant entries in Andorra, in 2023 they represented only 3.3%.
