Small increase in Portuguese entering the US in 2023

In 2023, 890 Portuguese entered the United States of America (USA), according to data from the US Department of Homeland Security. In 2023, the US Department of Homeland Security counted 1,172,910 foreign entries in the US, with the Portuguese accounting for 0.1% of that value. +

After 2020 saw the lowest number of Portuguese arrivals in the USA in the entire series under analysis and 2021 saw a slight recovery (11%), 2022 saw stabilization and 2023 saw a small increase (18.7%). However, the number of Portuguese entering the US is still far from the figure recorded in 2001: 1,609, the highest in the period under review. In relative terms, Portuguese emigration to the US still represents a very small fraction of immigration in this country (0.1%).
