Abstract

A recent destination for Portuguese emigration, Switzerland is one of the countries where it has grown the most in recent decades. Portuguese nationality has been the third most numerous foreign nationality in the country for twenty years. Today, however, more people of Portuguese nationality leave than arrive. This article proposes some clues to better understand the reasons for this incessant shuttle movement between Portugal and Switzerland since the 1980s.
