Portuguese Emigration Factbook 2023
pdfPage
Inês Vidigal* e Carlota Moura Veiga*
In 2022, the number of people leaving Portugal will have risen to 70,000, which points to a trend of almost total recovery of pre-pandemic Portuguese emigration figures and a possible stabilisation in the coming years at a level of between 70,000 and 75,000 annual departures. The 2023 edition of the Factbook includes data updated to 2022 (or the latest year available) on total Portuguese emigration and to the main destination countries, as well as on emigrants' remittances.
