United Nations, ECLA: online data base on the investigation of international migration in Latin America and the Caribbean (IMILA)
Provides, without restrictions, online access to a database of the 1980/01 to 2010/11 census about the immigrant stocks in Latin American and the Caribbean countries. It’s organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLA) of the United Nations, through the Latin-American and Caribbean Demographic Centre (CELADE). The search results in the database can be downloaded in several formats, including Excel.

Description

Information, by country of residence, about the immigrant population by country of birth.

Source: national census.

Time period: 1980/81, 1990/91, 2000/01 and 2010/11.

Geographical scope: Latin-American countries and the Caribbean.

Included variables: gender, age, marital status, number of children, time of arrival, five-year prior residence, educational level, labour status, activity sector, occupation. The possible crosses between these variables are predefined.

Confidentiality limitations: there are only available values for the stocks of immigrants superior to 500.
