Abstract
The transitional period of disintegration of the United Kingdom from the European Union ended on the 31st of december of 2020, meaning that the existing freedom for the movement of EU citizens in this territory no longer exists. Consequently, the dynamics and possibilities of migration in the United Kingdom are changing. This study analyzes the future of Portuguese migration in the United Kingdom, in particular the migratory intentions of portuguese residents established there, given the expected changes in the status of the immigrant. The Portuguese case studies carried out so far were done in periods prior to the implementation of Brexit, so the present investigation intends to update the existing body of knowledge in this area. Through the dissemination of an online questionnaire survey, which was answered by 502 Portuguese migrants in the United Kingdom, results were obtained indicating the little or no significant impact of Brexiton their future migratory intentions.
