Abstract
This study aims to contribute to a policy for disseminating Portuguese language teaching
in partnership with the associative network of the Portuguese community in France. It begins by defining
the concepts of language policy and linguistic diversity, and then addresses some
of the sociolinguistic characteristics of this community and its associative network. It proceeds
to analyze a corpus consisting of responses from 42 associative leaders to describe
how these associations contribute, or not, to the promotion of the Portuguese language in
France. It also presents a statistical analysis of the current situation of Portuguese language teaching.
It concludes by making some suggestions to be implemented within the associative network for a broader
integration of Portuguese into French school curricula, particularly through
the dissemination of information that conveys a positive and modern image of the language, demonstrating the
advantages of learning Portuguese to parents, schools, and the French public as a whole.
