Abstract
Throughout history were observed many phenomena on migration flows internationally. In this sense, the reasons why the social actors have taken and make the decision to leave their countries of origin and how they are able to enter and integrate into the host country, it is one of the most exciting sociological phenomena to investigate. This thesis defines as research problem the Portuguese emigration and strategies of social inclusion, cultural and professional of the Portuguese in countries where they resided, residing as well as the return and reintegration in Portugal. Becomes objective of thi s research address, the issue of emigration, giving emphasis to two large temporal peaks of this phenomenon, which are among the 60s and 70s of last century and the current period. The research was supported in qualitative methodology, being held twelve interviews that were demarcated by geographic area of northern Portugal; the subsequent analysis of the data was divided into four sections, demographic and geographical, academic, professional and socio-cultural. The present study's main conclusions, the emigrants of the two vacancies are motivated by economic factors and professional character, in that looking abroad better conditions of life and work; migratory networks allow better integration of migrants in countries of destination, are important in the decision process, select the country and insert itself; emigrants of two places maintain their traditions while some elements of the second wave admit they are already away from the customs and Portuguese values; emigration policies improved social actor s mobility facilitating bureaucratic processes, the Portuguese government has implemented strategies to encourage the return and reintegration of Portuguese emigrants.
