About the interviewee

Jean-Michel Lafleur is Professor at the University of Liège and Associate Director of its Center for Ethnic and Migration Studies (CEDEM). He is also a research associate at the National Science Foundation of Belgium (FRS-FNRS). He currently holds a Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) to work on a project entitled "Migration and Transnational Social Protection in Post-Crisis Europe". 

 

About the interviewer

Carlota Moura Veiga holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in Political Science from Iscte. She did an internship at the Social Security and Labor Commission which led to her Master's thesis "The State and the family: family support policies and familism as factors of sustainability of the Portuguese welfare state". She worked for a year and a half at the Portuguese Embassy in Bern where she deepened her knowledge in the area of migration by working directly with the Portuguese community. Since 2017, she has been a research assistant at the Emigration Observatory. She is editorial coordinator of the periodical publications, OEm Conversations With and Portuguese OEm Working Papers.
