Abstract
The growing popularity of mobile lifestyles has important consequences for the urban communities where such mobilities take place. Mobile lifestyles lead to the appropriation of certain residential spaces by those classes that are more mobile, such as retirees from high-income countries, who experience new ways of living and ageing within the framework of a foreign culture. The popularity and extent of these mobilities will largely determine the possible uses of urban space, particularly affecting low-income urban residents. In this presentation, we examine the impact of this north-south circulation in three historic cities: Cuenca (Ecuador), Rabat (Morocco) and Lisbon (Portugal).
