More than 4 million Venezuelans have left their country since 2015, mainly to other South American countries. The region has a 200-year history of laws, regulations and policies on migration and citizenship. How does this historical baggage affect the regulation of the legal status of Venezuelan citizens today?
Diego Acosta is a full Professor of European Law and Migration at the University of Bristol in England. Has over 50 publications in the field and his last book was published by the Cambridge publishing house in 2018 with the title “The National versus the Foreigner in South America. 200 Years of Migration and Citizenship Law”.
