Portuguese inflow into Canada decreases in 2017
Inês Vidigal
There were 785 Portuguese who, in 2017, entered Canada, according to data from Citizenship and Immigration Canada. This number represents a slight decrease of 7% when compared to that of the previous year. +

Since 2000, the number of Portuguese entries in Canada has fluctuated frequently, although there is a tendency for this value to rise. During the period under review, the lowest value of entries was recorded in 2003, when only 329 Portuguese emigrated to Canada. The highest was in 2016, with 845 entries in Canadian territory. In 2017, a new decline in Portuguese emigration to Canada began, and it is still impossible to determine if we are facing a new oscillation or a reversal of the upward trend.
