Portuguese entries in Belgium approach 2010 values
Carlota Moura Veiga
There were 2,863 Portuguese who entered Belgium in 2016, according to OECD data. That international organization counted a total of 103,187 entries of foreigners in Belgian territory, representing the Portuguese 2.8% of this total. +

Between 2000 and 2013, the number of Portuguese entries in Belgium increased steadily, only being offset between 2008 and 2010, with a similar fall similar to that of emigration to other countries in the context of the economic crisis. Since 2013, there has been an uninterrupted decrease, particularly marked between 2013 and 2014, with 2016 being in line with 2010 values (2,717). In the same year, 35,249 migrants born in Portugal lived in Belgium, representing 1.9% of immigrants living in that European country.
