Portuguese emigration to the Netherlands reaches a maximum in 2017
Inês Vidigal
2,127 Portuguese entered the Netherlands in 2017, according to data from the Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek. That Dutch organization counted a total of 202,126 entries of foreigners in the country, with the Portuguese representing 1.1% of this total. +

The annual figures for Portuguese emigration to the Netherlands doubled between 2005 and 2007. Since that date, they have oscillated at a level close to 2,000 entries a year, registering a more pronounced fall in 2010. In 2015 and 2016 Portuguese emigration to the Netherlands grew5.4% and 8.5%, respectively.Although this growth was not exponential, it was sufficient to make 2017 the year in which more Portuguese entered Dutch territory in this century. The Netherlands is therefore, along with Spain, one of the few countries of destination in which the entry of Portuguese has increased in recent years.
