As a rule, United Nations estimates define emigrants as those who live in a country other than the one in which they were born. When this indicator can not be estimated, the United Nations uses information about foreigners residing in the countries of destination. For this reason, the estimates now disclosed in the "Destination countries" section are available either in Tables A.1 ("Foreign-born population") or in Tables A.2 ("Resident population by nationality").
