In 2025, Portuguese emigration to Angola recovered slightly (+7%), following the sharp decline recorded in 2024 (-37%). Despite this modest recovery, the figure remains well below pre-pandemic levels and far from the peak of 6,715 entries observed in 2015. The decline in Portuguese entries into Angola after that peak should be understood in the context of the oil price crisis and the deterioration of the Angolan economy, whose effects became particularly pronounced from 2016 onwards, through the contraction of economic activity, the reduction of investment and the worsening of employability conditions. The slight recovery observed in 2025 suggests a partial stabilisation of the flow, but does not alter the broader trend of a sharp decline compared with pre-crisis levels. The figures used in this highlight correspond to the sum of the following visa types: privileged visa, work visa (the most common category), protocol-based work visa, residence visa and other visas (study and temporary stay).
