Following the sharp decline observed in 2020 — largely attributable to mobility restrictions imposed during the pandemic — Portuguese emigration to Belgium resumed a steady upward trajectory from 2021 onwards. In 2024, the number of arrivals reached the highest level in the period under analysis, with 5,471 Portuguese moving to Belgian territory. Between 2000 and 2024, the lowest value was recorded in 2000 (1,369 entries), highlighting a clear and sustained long-term growth trend in the presence of Portuguese migrants in Belgium over the past two decades.
