Portuguese Emigration Factbook 2024
pdfPage
Inês Vidigal* e Sofia Vilhena*
In 2023, the number of departures from Portugal is estimated to have stabilised at around 70,000 individuals. This stabilisation is particularly noteworthy, as it occurred despite the sharp decline in emigration to the United Kingdom, which, until the Brexit process, had been the main destination for Portuguese emigrants. The 2024 edition of the Factbook provides updated data for 2023 (or the most recent year available) on total Portuguese emigration and flows to the main destination countries, as well as on emigrant remittances.
