CONFERENCE AIMS
♦ To share resources and schemes of work for teaching Portuguese as a Modern Foreign Language
(MFL) and a heritage language in primary and secondary schools and universities.
♦ To develop the teaching of Portuguese as MFL, through football.
♦ To share projects to raise the achievement of Portuguese Speakers in the United Kingdom in order to
develop a better understanding of the Portuguese speaking community, specifically engaging
parents and families.
♦ To consider how to develop reading alongside writing, speaking and listening.
♦ To provide information on the educational system in Cape Verde.
♦ To share and provide information on science, music and cultural activities in order to raise the
achievement and confidence of Portuguese speaking pupils.
♦ To disseminate research done by the British Council with regards to MFL.
