Portuguese inflow into Norway approaches values of 2010
Inês Vidigal
According to statistics Norway, in 2017 375 Portuguese entered the country. This statistical institute accounted for a total of 49,774 entries of foreigners in Norwegian territory, representing the Portuguese 0.8% of this total. +

For the fourth consecutive year the number of Portuguese entries in Norway decreased. This decrease approximates the value of Portuguese entries from that registered in the pre-crisis period: in 2010 284 Portuguese entered in Norway. Portuguese emigration to Norway is a recent phenomenon, peaking in 2012, following accelerated growth since 2010. The decrease observed since 2013, although abrupt, has been slowing, being slower than the growth registered in the years of the crisis. The weight of Portuguese immigration in total immigration in Norway remained low, but without much change, in the order of 0.8% of total admissions, as the number of foreigners in that country decreased also for the sixth consecutive year, the decrease being registered in 2017 the highest in the period under analysis (-14.9%).
